About Us

Welcome and thank you for taking the time to learn more about Capital Business Systems.

Since 1991 we've been based in Harrisburg and have served the Central Pennsylvania business community. Everyday, we work side by side with hundreds of businesses throughout the region. In 2006, we changed our name from Block Business Systems to Capital Business Systems to reflect the area that we serve. And while our name has changed, our commitment to customers has not.

We understand that when you make an office equipment purchase, you are selecting more than just hardware. Here at Capital, your purchase marks the beginning of the relationship, not the end. We are a customer- first organization, deeply committed to customer service and satisfaction.

We're able to back up what we promise because we are locally owned and operated. Decisions that affect you are made here - by people who know you and understand your business - and not by some distant corporate office. For over fifteen years we've lived and worked in the community that we serve. That's important to us - and we know it's important to you too.

Steven C. Shirk, President

Steve has been in the business industry and the Central Pennsylvania region for nearly twenty years. He opened the Harrisburg office in 1991, and today manages day-to-day operations and serves as company President. He points to the firm's many long-term customer relationships as evidence that Capital "provides the best service in the industry."

Steve credits the company's success to its' long-term commitment to customers. While some office equipment suppliers see the end of the relationship when the equipment is delivered, for Capital, it is just the beginning. Steve asserts that, "Our employees are dedicated professionals, always prepared to provide you with prompt, friendly service. Our goal is to exceed our client's expectations everyday. In fact, it's our customer's high expectations that make us a better company."

Steve is a graduate of Shippensburg University and a long time resident of Harrisburg.

Dave Schlomer, Director of Sales

Dave has been in the business industry for over 25 years, and the past thirteen years at Capital Business Systems.

Dave's experienced sales team is dedicated to the Company's commitment to service and satisfaction. This commitment is exemplified by a consultative sales approach that focuses on understanding the client's business need so that the proper solution can be determined and designed. Dave comments, "We understand the impact that equipment has on a company's business and always strive to design solutions suited to specific needs. That's because we believe that the equipment installation is the just the beginning of our work, not the end."

Chris Dyson, Technical Solutions Manager

Chris has been with Capital Business Systems for over six years and is responsible for integrating your new equipment into your business. The process begins with network support as Chris ensures that your new equipment is fully functional within your network structure.

Following installation, Chris provides hands-on training for your staff to make sure they have a complete understanding about how to use it effectively. Comprehensive training is critical to reducing system downtime since, "More than 50% of all service calls in the first six months can be eliminated with proper product education," says Chris. Additionally, Capital provides continued education and support throughout the equipment's lifecycle.

Shayna Cornelius Arnold, Business Manager

Shayna possesses over ten years administration experience and has spent the past four years managing Capital's business office. Shayna grew up in a family business where integrity, service and customer satisfaction were paramount. Today, these values are evident in Shayna's enthusiasm for taking care of her customers at Capital. She truly represents our organization's "customer-first" philosophy.
